Today's YouVersion Verse of the Day prompted me to contemplate the significance of Holy Week in my life:
And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit Who lives in you. Romans 8:11
It never ceases to amaze me that the Lord of all, Who is worthy of all praise, Almighty God, Creator of all things that exist, actually humbled Himself to submit to our shameful, disgusting, torturous treatment of Him; so that He could take on our punishment for constantly disobeying and disregarding His will.
We invite sin to hurt, kill and destroy what He loves (us!) and He forgives us and empowers us to choose better and better as we draw nearer and nearer to Him. Mind blown!!!
I read recently about someone's advice to their child that included something about getting past the constant ache in their heart for more - that if they could make some sort of peace with that they could enjoy a fuller life. It absolutely broke my heart. I know that ache, I wrestled with it for much of my adolescence. Jesus filled that ache with His Spirit, all I had to do was allow Him to.
My before and after is so tangible. Before Christ, I felt empty and aimless, dead in my sin. Now, after knowing and living with Christ alive in me, I feel fully alive and am living my life with clear purpose and significance in Him. I hope that for you too ♥️
